Living in Two Worlds (Japanese: ぼくが生きてる、ふたつの世界, Romaji: Boku ga Ikiteru, Futatsu no Sekai) is an upcoming Japanese film starring Ryo Yoshizawa. The movie is directed by Mipo O and based on the autobiographical essay “Ro no Ryoshin kara Umareta Boku ga Kikoeru Sekai to Kikoenai Sekai wo Ikikishite Kangaeta 30 no Koto” by Dai Igarashi. The film will be released on September 20, 2024, in Japan.

Plot

Dai Igarashi (played by Ryo Yoshizawa) was born to deaf parents in a small port town in Miyagi prefecture. Growing up, he was deeply loved by his parents and often acted as an interpreter for his mother. While this was a normal and enjoyable part of his life, Dai eventually became embarrassed and irritated by others seeing him as special because of his role. He even grew to resent his mother’s cheerfulness. At the age of 20, seeking to escape these feelings, Dai moves to Tokyo.
