Land of Tanabata (Japanese: 七夕の国, Tanabata no Kuni) is an upcoming Japanese sci-fi drama series set to premiere on Disney+ on July 4, 2024. The series is based on the manga Tanabata no Kuni by Hitoshi Iwaaki, who is also known for the manga that inspired the 2014 film Parasyte.

Synopsis

Land of Tanabata follows the story of Yoji Minamimaru, an ordinary university student with a unique supernatural ability. Despite appearing absent-minded and often being called "Nanmaru" by his friends, Yoji can create small holes in any object. Though this power seems trivial, it becomes crucial when he must confront a global crisis threatening the world.

Plot

Yoji Minamimaru (Kanata Hosoda) is a seemingly ordinary and somewhat forgetful university student. Loved by those around him, he goes by the nickname Nanmaru. Yoji has a special supernatural ability that allows him to create small holes in any object. This power, although seemingly insignificant, becomes crucial when a major crisis threatens the world. Yoji must rise to the occasion and use his unique ability to protect the planet.
